First-year students: A five-course sequence in humanities: Humanities 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Transfer students: One course in humanities: Humanities 100. HUM 1-5 may be met by prior transfer credit. See below.
This requirement must be taken for a Letter Grade. D grade or better required.
The Remote (R) version of an approved course will also be accepted.
The Humanities sequence is offered jointly by the Departments of History, Literature, and Philosophy. It is an introduction to major aspects in the development of Western humanistic tradition. You will learn to interpret important literary, historical, and philosophical principles through lectures, discussions and the writing of essays.
HUM 100 is required for all new transfer students beginning in Fall 2024, regardless of transfer type.
