Additional steps / resources to prepare for your return

Academic Advising

Undergraduate students at UC San Diego have a unique academic advising system to guide them through their academic career from admission and orientation through graduation. Students work with both College Academic Advisors as well as Department/Major Academic Advisors.

Depending on how long you have been away, your major catalog and course requirements may have changed.  Please make sure to connect with your major department advisors if you have any questions.

Please make sure to review the information available to you on the department website to see the best way to connect with your advisor since it will vary.

Academic Support Resources

Revelle College Advising strongly encourages students to review past course material to prepare for your return

Campus Community Centers

Campus Community Centers at UC San Diego build affinity among a diverse population of students, faculty and staff members. Open to undergraduate and graduate students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the San Diego community, the centers contribute significantly toward the evolution of a socially just campus. They are places of belonging, where traditional notions of diversity are challenged. Where self-awareness is learned, leaders are developed, and open dialogue and expression are encouraged.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS provides counseling, workshops, and community forums for UC San Diego students. They also provide outreach programs and consultation services to the campus community.

Familiarize yourself with campus

Things are constantly changing, so it is important for you to explore campus prior to your return.  We suggest that you walk around campus and check out the new buildings and restaurants before you return to class.

We strongly recommend that you take the time to check out all of the campus resources before the start of the quarter so that your transition is smooth.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

  1. Fill out your Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  2. Contact the Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS) office if you have any questions
  3. If you did not leave the university in good academic standing, you may need to submit a Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeal.  This appeal requires academic planning, and signatures from both your major and college advisors.  Please do not wait to start this process.

Health Requirements

All incoming and re-admitted graduate and undergraduate students are required to meet the UC Immunization and Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Requirements.

Housing

International Students and Programs Office (ISPO)

ISPO's team of expert staff provides the highest levels of knowledge and expertise in advising and immigration services to international students at UC San Diego.

IT help

If you have been away for one year (or more) you may have lost access to your UCSD email and student accounts.  Your email will be automatically reactivated if you are accepted for return to UC San Diego. If you are still having issues, please contact the ITS Service Desk. They can help with:

  • Account questions and problems (email, student account, network, server, Active Directory, Canvas)
  • Residential computing and network support
  • Campuswide wireless support (UCSD-PROTECTED and UCSD-GUEST)
  • Virus and malware detection and removal

Please note that if you are unable to access your student accounts to send a VAC message or to attend drop-in advising hours, you can email us at readvising@ucsd.edu to connect.

Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD)

OSD works with students with documented disabilities to review documentation and determine reasonable accommodations. Disabilities can occur in these areas: psychological, psychiatric, learning, attention, chronic health, physical, vision, hearing, and acquired brain injuries, and may occur at any time during a student’s college career.

We encourage you to contact the OSD as soon as you become aware of a condition that is disabling so that they can work with you.

The process for obtaining accommodations can be lengthy.  Revelle College encourages you to proactively set up accomodations even if you do not think you will need to utilize them.
