Revelle Student Room

Housing Information

Information for New Students

Welcome to the Revelle College Residential Life Community for the 2017-2018 academic year!  Whether you are a Revelle College student, or joining us from another college, we plan to make your stay with us a pleasant and memorable part of your experience at UC San Diego! As well, please share this letter with your parent and/ guardian, we want them to know this information too!

Due to a large incoming class and the large percentage of students who have requested housing, each of the seven residential areas at UC San Diego primarily have triple bedspace rooms. We are fortunate enough to be able to house all of our incoming first year Revelle College students in our residence halls. In addition, we will be providing housing for the other UC San Diego colleges. This year we will be home to students from Sixth College, Muir College, Eleanor Roosevelt College, and Warren College! This summer has been very busy for us as we prepare for your arrival in just a few short weeks. Revelle College is the place to be this year!

Please ensure that you thoroughly read the information below, as it all pertains to your arrival.

Room Assignments

  • You can access your room assignment on the MyRoomAssignment webpage, here.
  • Click the Room Assignment Login button and input your login information (PID/PAC) to view your room assignment, roommates, PO Box, on-campus address, and move-in time.

RoomMates

  • In preparation for your move in, you are encouraged to contact your roommate(s) and suitemates before arriving on campus to discuss sharing of items such as microwaves, TVs, mini-refrigerator etc. The key to good relationships while living together is open communication. Please use this opportunity as a first step in developing a good, honest relationship with your future roommate(s) and suitemates.
  • If your roommate request did not go through, it was mostly likely due to PID’s/Name’s not being entered correctly in the roommate preference form that you filled out. If all parties of a roommate request would like to attempt to be matched up, please contact our office to see what we can do.
  • If you are overflowed into Revelle, but were not paired with your requested roommates and they were placed in your college of registration’s residential community, please contact your college’s residence life office to see about the potential for being matched back up.

Move-in

  • You will be moving in on September 23rd or 24th (or between September 18th-19th for orientation attendees) and you will need to follow directional signs from Parking Lot 103 to our Check-in Station at our Revelle Conference Rooms.
  • If you are moving in after Sunday, September 24th, you will need to check-in at the Revelle College Center located on the northeast corner of the first floor of Blake Hall. You MUST be checked in by 4:00pm on Thursday, September 28th or your housing space will forfeited. If you will be arriving after 4:00pm on September 28th, please let our office know as soon as possible by e-mailing revreslife@ucd.edu with your planned move-in date and time.
  • Students who cannot make their assigned move-in date and time or would like to change this assigned date/time, can do so by clicking on the Change Move-In Date button and selecting a new date/time from the options available. The deadline for any changes is Friday, September 8th! No other changes will be permitted after this date.
  • If you are attending a September Orientation session for your College, please ensure that you change your move-in time on the MyRoomAssignment page to the available timeslots prior to the beginning of your orientation. Depending on the Date/Time you select, you may be billed an additional $45.00 to your fall housing for moving in early. Please contact your orientation office if you have questions about when you need to arrive on campus.
  • Your Qwik Pass will be available on your MyRoomAssignment Page. Please make sure you have it printed out or downloaded onto a phone, along with a Photo ID (government issued ID or high school photo ID card), to present during the Move-In process. YOU CANNOT MOVE-IN WITHOUT IT.
  • Our office will be offering carts that you can check-out for one hour (renewable for another hour if demand is low), during the move-in process.

Move-in Parking

  • Prior to your move-in time, please enter Lot 103 to quickly unload your belongings and follow directional signs to the Revelle Residence Life Check-in Station. There will be a limited number of available spaces in Lot 103 that will operate as 20-minute unloading zones. Therefore, we recommend being as efficient as possible with your time. After you have unloaded, you will need to park your vehicle across the street at Lot 102.
  • If you are moving in on a weekday please be aware that you will need to purchase a parking permit at a visitor’s information booth. You can view pay station locations here.
  • If you are moving in on the weekend, you will NOT need to purchase a parking permit for that day.
  • For any other parking inquiries please view the UCSD parking website at ucsd.edu

Dining

  • On your MyRoomAssignment page you will be able to select your Dining Plan. The deadline to select one is Friday, September 8th!
  • If you have any further questions on the dining plan, you can find information here.

Mailing Address & Receiving Mail

  • You MyRoomAssignment page lists both your room/suite location and your mailbox number.  The mailbox number is what you use as a mailing address. Please DO NOT use your room/apartment location as your mailing address or the Residence Life Office, we will not accept your mail! Have your mail addressed as follows:
First Name, Last Name
#_ _ _ _ _ (list your full mailbox number here)
9450 Gilman Drive
La Jolla, CA  92092-0100

  • Campus Mail Services will not begin accepting mail until September 23rd. Due to the liability issues and storage problems involved, the Revelle Residence Life will not be accepting any mail or packages prior to move-in.  If you are planning to ship some of your personal items instead of bringing them with you, arrange to have them shipped by a carrier listed below and delivered to the campus after September 17th.
  • Mail will not be available for pick up until Monday, September 25th.
  • If you are purchasing on Amazon, do NOT send your packages to your mailbox. The Parcel Center cannot accommodate a large influx of Amazon packages. Please have your items delivered to the Amazon@UCSanDiego location. Further information on this location can be found here.
  • Additional Tip on Package Mail: Letters, magazines, and small packages that fit will be delivered directly to your mailbox. Your mailbox will be shared with your suitemates. Large packages and other items larger than your mailbox that are sent via U.S. Mail (Express Mail and Certified Mail), United Parcel Service (UPS), Federal Express, Airborne Express, DHL Express are delivered directly to the Revelle Parcel Center located in Argo Hall, which is operated by Student Mail Services. When Student Mail Services receives packages for you, you will receive an email notice with instructions on when and where you can pick up your packages.

  • Laundry: One laundry facility is located in each building/floor of the residential areas. Further information on the Laundry Account can be found on the MyRoomAssignment page.

  • Note on hanging and/or attaching items to the walls: If you plan on bringing posters or pictures to hang in your room or apartment, please purchase non-staining and non-marring adhesive mounting putty such as Tac-Stick or painters tape - nails and hooks are not allowed due to the damage caused in walls or ceilings and if these are found in your dorm and leave behind damage you will be assessed a damage fee at the end of the year ranging from $50-$500 dollars. Please note that you are not allowed to drill or nail anything into the walls to install bookcases, shelves, etc.
