How do I register for Parent & Family Orientation?

A concurrent but separate parent and family orientation session is offered during each first-year student orientation session.

Parents must complete their own registration. Students are required to invite their family members through the Orientation Registration page on COMPASS. Once a student does this, parents and family members automatically receive an email with instructions and a link to the registration page. 

If you would like to make a change to your registration, send a request by email to revelleorientation@ucsd.edu. Please include the following information in your request:

  • Your name
  • Student's full legal name
  • Student's PID number, if known
  • Parent or family member phone number
  • Student's orientation session number and date
  • Session/date change request

Requests must be received at least five business days before your desired orientation session, or a $25.00 administrative fee may be charged.

Can I attend the same session as my student?

Yes. Most parents choose to come to the same session as their student, but if it is more convenient, you may attend at a different session than your student.

Please note that parents and families will be on a separate schedule and will not be with their student the majority of the day.

Will I see my student during orientation?

You may catch a glimpse of each other but the two programs are separate. Plan to spend most of orientation apart from each other, including the evening.

How much does Parent & Family Orientation cost?

Program package (does not include housing): $40.00 each person

Since orientation is a self-supporting program, each adult who attends must pay the orientation fee. Please note: There is no on-site registration.

When, and how, do I pay for Parent & Family Orientation?

Payment for parent and family orientation is due upon registering for parent and family orientation. Your payment must be received before your registration is confirmed. Student orientation fees will appear on the student's September or October billing statement. 

What happens if I need to change or cancel my reservation?

Changes:
After the deadline of July 31, you must email a request for a change to revelleorientation@ucsd.edu. Please include the following information in your request:
  • Your name
  • Student's full legal name
  • Phone number (parent number)
  • Original session date
  • Date change request
Change requests must be received at least five business days before your confirmed session. Change requests will be honored only if space and staffing limitations allow. 
Cancellations:
In order to receive a refund, cancellations must be received at least five business days prior to the first day of your reserved orientation session.

Where do I check in for Orientation?

Details will be posted in September. Parent and family check-in is typically located on Revelle Plaza.

Where do I park during Orientation?

Details will be posted here in September. 

Note: Revelle College staff are not authorized to resolve any parking tickets for you should you be ticketed. Parking tickets are solely your responsibility.

How do I get to campus?

Revelle College does not provide transportation to and from the San Diego International Airport. Visit the ground transportation portion of the San Diego International Airport site for transportation options available to you.
