Student Activities Office Internship Program (SAO-IP)

Mission Statement

To provide students with opportunities to serve in para-professional roles and gain transferrable skills while improving student life at Revelle College.

Position Descriptions

Senior Intern

  • Advise and mentor all interns in the program.
  • Collaborate on projects and tasks with the Administrative Intern.
  • Assist Coordinator of Student Activities in managing various aspects of the Student Activities Office.
  • Attend and assist with Revelle College events as needed, as a representative of the Student Activities Office.

Administrative Intern

  • Assist the Coordinator of Student Activities with programming and administrative duties.
  • Collaborate on projects and tasks with the Senior Intern.
  • Maintain email listservs for Revelle College student organizations and programs.
  • Maintain Revelle College Student Affairs and Student Involvement websites.
  • Assist Coordinator of Student Activities in facilities management of the Commuter Lounge and Leadership Space.

One-on-One Program Interns

  • Coordinate, recruit, and train One-on-One Program mentors.
  • Recruit mentees to the program and pair them with compatible mentors.
  • Plan and produce events for mentors and mentees.
  • Create and distribute quarterly e-newsletters and organize a database of over 200 students.
  • Secure financial support by developing and presenting funding allocation requests.
  • Maintain a ledger of expenses.

Programming Interns

  • Plan and produce one large-scale program per quarter pertaining to social justice issues.
  • Plan and produce one large-scale social event per quarter to support outreach work of the Student Activities Office.
  • Collaborate with University entities to ensure that programming is well-researched, educational, and impactful.
  • Effectively promote and evaluate the impact of programs utilizing campus resources.
  • Secure financial support by developing and presenting funding allocation requests.
  • Work to foster an inclusive environment at Revelle College.
  • Work to build community at Revelle College.

Graphic Design Interns

  • Serve as a consultant to entities requesting publicity materials.
  • Design professional-grade publicity materials for student organizations, college programs, and events as requested.

Photography Interns

  • Serve as a professional photographer for Revelle College events.
  • Produce professional-grade photographic materials for Revelle College websites and archiving purposes.

*Please note that this is an on-call position and does not require regular office hours.  Expect to hold a weekly one-hour meeting with the Coordinator of Student Activities and fellow Photography Intern.

*These are unpaid volunteer positions.  Interns must maintain good academic standing.  Expect to hold a minimum of 3-5 office hours per week in the Student Activities Office.
