Summer Class Information
For New Revelle Students
CAUTION:If you choose to take summer courses prior to starting at UCSD, it is your responsibility to make sure that you do not enroll in courses for which you have already received credit through AP or IB exams or community college classes. To avoid duplicate credit, carefully review Revelle’s AP and IB charts and use Assist.org. Revelle counselors will not be able to advise you on summer coursework because counselors do not have access to your official records until August. However, Revelle Advising has provided the following tips and suggestions for choosing summer classes.
- Review the Revelle College General Education (GE) requirements.
- If you have AP or IB credit, view Revelle's AP Chart and IB Chart to determine which credits you will receive at UCSD. If you received credit for a UCSD course, do not take the equivalent course at UCSD or another institution.
- View Revelle's Transfer Courses page for information about taking classes outside of UCSD.
Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR): If you have not met the ELWR through one of the university conditions, complete a UC transferable English Composition course at a community college prior to the start of Fall Quarter. View the ELWR Approved Transfer Course List for courses that will satisfy ELWR.
General Education Requirements: Select courses to fulfill general education requirements you have not already satisfied through AP/IB credit or community college coursework. Review the Revelle College General Education (GE) requirements for more information about each requirement.
Complete IGETC: If you are not IGETC certified, meet with your community college counselor for information on courses you can take in the summer to receive this certification. Please also view Revelle’s Requirements for IGETC Transfer Students. Note: IGETC certification is not listed on your community college transcript. UCSD Admissions requires an IGETC certification form sent to their office.
To receive credit for coursework completed outside of UCSD, send an official transcript to the Admissions Office:
UC San Diego

La Jolla, CA 92093-0021
Please allow 10-12 weeks for UCSD Admissions to evaluate your transcripts and post the credits to your Academic History on MyTritonlink.
